ALL agencies are required by law to be accredited  by the Russian Ministry of Education in order to complete adoptions from Russia. This program is coordinated by LSS of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan. THEY ARE RE-ACCREDITED AS OF 3/7/08!!

 

  PARENT ELIGIBILITY
 

Age of Parents:
May vary based on region, but 25-50 yrs. is general range.

Other Children:
May have other children in family.

U.S. Citizenship:
One parent must be a U.S. citizen.

Marriage:
Single women and married couples are accepted.

Income:
Requirements vary by region.

 

  CHILDREN
 

Gender:
Gender requests are not accepted.

Age:
Infants, toddlers and older children are available. Infants are typically 9-18 months at the time of referral. Older children and sibling groups are also available.

Health:
The children live in orphanages and are most often developmentally delayed. There usually is medical information as well as a social history on the birth parents. Referral information about the child includes any social history available and medical reports of varying reliability.

Ethnicity
Children come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, usually Caucasian and mixed Eurasian, based on the region.


  TIMING
 

Referral:
Approximately 2-10 months following submission of dossier to referral of child.

Travel:
First trip 4-8 weeks after referral acceptance; trip lasts 5-7 days

Second trip 4-8 weeks after the first, lasting 6-12 days (depending on region).

  PRIMARY COSTS TO CONSIDER
 

International Program Administration Fee. (Review home study and documents; assistance/coordination of dossier; translations; program consultation; telephone, fax, mailing fees and International relief/program development).

Russia Foreign Fee, payable in installments. (Fees to orphanage and local government administration).
